Posterous:10 Reasons Why Everyone Should Join

Every since the inceptions of  Xanga, Live Journal and Myspace, blogging’s popularity has been on the rise.  As of 2010, Blogger,Wordpress and Tumblr  seems to trump the aforementioned  platforms as users prime choice. However,  just because ‘everyone’ uses one platform doesn’t always mean it’s the best. Though I am an avid love of my wordpress.com account, I do think Posterous deserves some brownie points with me and  the world wide web for the following 10 reasons:

  1. My close friend Marian from high school has a wicked cool Posterous account. She’s been blogging since 2004 and first introduced the art of blogging to me ever since we both were undergrads. For years I’ve looked up to her web 2.0 intelligence and to  her delicious writing style; I also doubt there would even be a http://www.sherryndaniel.com if it wasn’t for her influential underpinnings. This new web 2.0 venture she has embarked on seems to gaining fast credibility, FYI. Check her blog out if you don’t believe me.
  2. The creators of  Y Combinator have not only funded this company but have funded Scribd, Reddit,  and Dropbox.
  3. What other blogging platform has integrated and automated posting to other social media tools, i.e., Flickr, Twitter, Facebook, and it automatically has a built-in Google Analytics tool too.
  4. The platform is custom-designed for mobile users  or people on the go.
  5. Who needs Tinyurl, or Bitley when you can just use Posterous’s own URL shortening device to send out uber long hyperlinks.
  6. PicPosterous, a subset of Posterous, lets I-phone users quickly post photos to their Posterous page. Hmm, can blogger, wordpress or Tumblr do that?
  7. As of 2010,  Posterous has been recognized as  ‘2010’s  Hottest Sillicon Valley Companies’ by Lead411.
  8. Several social media experts declare Posterous to be the leading free application for lifestreaming .
  9. It’s easy to send an e-mail with attachments, documents, mp3’s and videos.
  10. It gives you an easy to digest lay-out, compacted with simplicity and effort.

I can see Posterous trumping WordPress.org but I am unsure if it can take over wordpress.com.. It is an amazing platform and I will surely check it out.
